Hot new information on Sue’s state of health.
Sue had a surgery last week, however her reconvalescencion has been somewhat slower than expected. She could not keep things down, so eating was impossible as well. It means Sue has to take her medications on an empty stomach which isn’t making it any better.
My wife went to visit Sue and keep her company yesterday afternoon. When she came back, she told me that Sue could get a job in the movies if she wanted. She could play Linda Blair from „the Exorcist”. Why? Well, she might not be able to turn her head 360 degrees but she definitely could fire projectiles of green vomit.
Than, before dinner, Sue called for some help and my wife went to the hospital again so I had to do mine and the kids’ dinner myself. It was around 9 p.m. that my wife came back and told me that Sue would be taken to the E.R. in order to refill her fluids and help her with the pain.
Later at night, I think it was about 11:30 p.m. my wife called the hospital to ask how is Sue doing. She found out that Sue would be admitted for the night. Not knowing that she would have to stay overnight, Sue was angry with herself for not bringing her favorite pillow along to the hospital. To help her out, the wife went to pick up Sue’s pillow and bring it to her. She got back home about 1:40 a.m. Read the rest of this entry

Dealing with life without the important people
Life is not a piece of cake, it is full of obstacles on the way. Those of us who have to live with health problems know exactly what I have in mind. We gathered here at HealthTalk to talk about our lives, our daily struggles and how we deal with them. Most of us here, tell about their own problems, however there are some who come here to tell about their close ones health problems. One of such people was Donna Gregory, she was a really optimistic and enthusiastic woman. She shared her husband’s story. Told us about his illness and how it would affect both of them. They were still a young couple, and had two children, Bobby and Amanda, 4-year-old twins. Donna told us how her husband’s chronic lymphocytic leukemia affected their lives day by day. She was very honest and open with us, mentioning how the incoming illness changed their marriage and life overall. While they had to deal with cancer, many of us fight our own battles, some may be easier, while others much harder. This battle we have to win, it’s a battle over our lives. Sometimes an unexpected event happens. Such was in Donna’s case, a tragedy occurred when noone expected it.
A plane crash has claimed the lives of Bob and Donna Gregory as well as the pilot, Joseph Baker. It was really tragic coincidence. According to Donna’s mother, the couple flew to Boston for Bob’s check-up. Bob’s cancer was in Read the rest of this entry

How important love is in chronic pain life
This may sound a little silly, but in terms of self-care, it’s really important question. It’s also may sound easy, but it’s not, check by yourself. We probably everyone heard to ‘love your neighbor…’ but usually we forgot the rest of it ‘as yourself’. In my opinion it’s impossible to give something away you don’t have. You have to love, or at least like yourself to start loving others. You are the first living thing for yourself and you should be the leader in story of your life.
When you consider living with a chronic pain or illness every-day, it’s really important to become your own most loved person. To ensure you look after yourself every day and take care about your care and how you feel. While working as a nurse I was astonished to meet people who simply don’t know what ails them. I understand that some of peoples who suffer from some illness don’t like the Internet as they could be easily fooled by wrong information. It’s possible, but there is plenty of good in there, suffering doesn’t have to be connected with alones, but you could meet here people with similar conditions you are, talk with them, listen or give advices. That’s great and don’t forget about it to share. There are also medical services where you have to pay to read something, and that’s just greed, I’ve never paid for such thing as there are also a lot of altruistic people out there who would like to share with others their experiences and their knowledge. So try it on! Read the rest of this entry

Major surgery? I’m prepared
In the beginning, when I was thinking about the name for this blog I came up with DUCK, DUCK, GOOSE, but didn’t want it to end up on a poultry Web site. But seriously, those words explain perfectly how I feel about life recently. For the recent few months, I’ve been collecting all my ‘ducks’ to be prepared for Urohunocological/rectal surgery; or as I like to name it “fixing the everything falling out old lady” surgery. So when I gather all those ducks, all tests and exams, I will get my goose and have this surgery. The abdominal surgery is going to put everything back to its’ place, especially considering my history of relapsing polychondritis and prednisone use over the years as a some sort of wires that were trying to hold every part at place.
Ok, so let’s put everything together, firstly I had cardiac stress test to ensure that everything is all right with my old ticker. Well it seems to be working just find and improves after my cardiac ablation procedure which changed the rhythm of my heart about three years ago. Next was endoscope and colonoscopy procedure to exam my gastrointestinal system. There were a few problems, such as H. Pylori bacteria, but I get treatment for it. Pain and Pleasure, Heaven and Hell
Many of you have probably found out that pain could be divided into two kinds of it. It’s mental and physical pain. Both of them are not to be wished for. There’s one thing I’m not sure about, namely what’s the opposite of pain, relief from it or just simple pleasure? There’s a catch as pleasure is very personal and subjective feeling, however I think we could agree that there are things or some aspects in our life that bring pleasure, joy and happiness.
Mental Pain:
First of all is to mention those individuals who just don’t understand what living with chronic pain is. It could be very frustrating if we meet such a people working for doctors or being doctors. I’m sure there are times when you just want to draw a picture or find some other, better way to tell those people what your life is truly about. It might be easier to live if they really understood what you deal with. I’m just guessing it might and I’m not sure, but there are numbers of times when I just want to hit somebody in the head and shout THINK YOU @#%#$@!
The worst thing for me is to deal with people who think they know what’s best for me or they give me some Read the rest of this entry

Learn how to live from FDR
A was lazier than usual as I’ve been recovering from different medical tests. This day I spent the day on resting and watching PBS production, “FDR: A Presidency Revealed.” I recorded it some time ago but forgot to watch it. In my opinion there are days when that particular book, person, movie or TV show comes into our lives when it’s needed. Today, FDR was cure for me (well… not bad for a dead President.)
The word ‘changes’ are flying over and over in the current political situation. In opinion of many, it’s the answer for the future. It’s quite easy, right? Just change something, just like that. Let’s change the world, change the war, change our enemies and meanwhile change leadership. I can’t figure it out how naïve we can be, at times. Some of us, whose lives turned over by 180 degrees really could give some lessons about that entire changing thing. It’s easy to talk, well it seems to be the only job of politics. However that’s not the promises that change our life. I know you understand and know that true change is difficult and terrifying as well, it’s hard to get over it and hard to get accustomed to it. One Cardiac Stress Test Please
Yesterday I had a cardiac stress test. It was going to stress only my heart. The rest of my stress, well… it’s my problem to deal. Those ones of you that keep reading my blog regularly know, I don’t like to travel as it’s really not so well for me as I have a bad sitter. It’s the sacroiliac joints which support the upper body and pelvis for human sitting. But anyway, my first wrong move was taking Mexican food the night before. They messed something up and understand me wrong, I didn’t want to drive back to exchange it so I just looked for anything green or suspicious looking. And I must admit I don’t remember time when I have to run to the facility so often, as yesterday, at least not since my last colonoscopy. It was really irritating on the highway or even at the hospital because of my problems that needs surgery to fix. But as for a fairly old lady I was moving pretty fast when my dignity was at stake.
My cardiologist was great man, I knew he would handle the day with precision and competence. He has that something that makes him a wonderful teacher and there are always crowd of young people around him any time I see him. Cardiac stress test checks the limits of your heart’s potential and there are two ways of doing it, you could either walk on a treadmill to tire the heart and see what’s going to happen or you could get meds that makes tiring for Read the rest of this entry

Perseverance and its meaning in chronic pain life
The number of pros and cons connected with this life, with every day pain is a high one. When do not mention about all feelings of religion, philosophy or morality, the pros ten to be life giving. And that’s a fact. In the other hand, the cons are life taking.
The disadvantages, well there are plenty of them, starting from drug addiction, gross obesity, don’t caring about what’s going on around, and going on to bitterness and anger, just to point some of them. These vices are ruining you from the inside, burning your insides until you became completely ruined and left alone. I’m really sorry if I’m saying it too straight, but I think there isn’t always time be wondering which words should be used in this blog as there is just too much at stake, like life and mine.
Of course advantages are pretty harder to find in this full of madness life, however their pay off is huge. My personal favorite is perseverance. In Presidents Harry S. Truman “Memoirs” I read some time that being the President is like riding a tiger. You have to keep on riding or be eaten. As a President you could be either on top of events or, if you hesitate, events will soon be on top of you. He said he never felt that he could let up for a single moment. Read the rest of this entry

Don’t waste your life on grief
I guess I’m revealing my age as I admit that I remember the Good Humor Man ice cream trucks and the Helms Bakery trucks driving around the neighborhoods in California. As my father had his upholstery and custom built furniture shop behind our house I could always run out there when I heard the whistle from the bakery truck. I still remember the taste of their freshly baked cream puffs, cookies and donuts, freshly baked bread. If you happen to not remember the bakery trucks, i can say that they were large trucks with some of the longest pull-out refrigerated drawers I have ever seen. The driver was always very cheerful and friendly man. Honestly, those memories are very dear and sweet to me. In fact, my mouth begins to salivate while just thinking of those delicious products. Luckily I’m very rich in figuratively sweet and pleasant memories.
In fact, memories, both those bitter and sweet are an integral part of our lives, especially if we are lining in chronic pain. Over the years I’ve met so many suffering people who prefer the bitter memories. Most of them are driven by anger and resentment due to their situation. And some of them even get some grim sense of satisfaction when they blame their parents or God or anything. I’ve never agreed with them as I don’t really see the blame of anybody in Read the rest of this entry
