For Christmas I wish you…
Peace in your imperfect life.
To balance what your body and your soul need.
One perfectly normal day with little or no pain.
To see what you have left, not what you have lost.
To have at least one sympathetic friend while waiting for others to find wisdom.
More than one family member who believes in you.
To have new challenges, talents and rewards in place of those which you no longer have.
Wise, helpful and sympathetic doctors who appear just when you need them.
That you love and help yourself to the best of your knowledge.
Accept yourself and be your own best friend.
A helpful and loving life partner.
To smile and laugh at least once a day.
Be patient in waiting for better days.
To see beauty in every thing, in a big tree older than you, the smile of a child, a rainbow after the rain, Christmas decorations on the tree, the subtle colors of a blooming flower and an old Victorian house glowing with lights.
The ears to enjoy children’s Christmas carol, the sound of wind bringing snowflakes to your windows, the laughter of your beloved remembering a funny story, sleigh bells let them be just in an old movie and a turkey roasting in the oven.
To experience the pleasure of licking a spoon fool of delicious treat, the first bite of hot cornbread stuffing, the melting of chocolate and a kiss under the mistletoe.
To release your anger by throwing a snowball, writing a letter or an honest conversation you wanted to have since last Christmas.
The pain that can’t be felt during this magic time of the year.
