Thanks for your answers
I was on lyrica for some time and at first it worked, but as you all know, after some time…it seems as the medications are tolerated and don’t work anymore. I was prescribed Topamax for migraines…I didn’t know it could help with nerve pain…but it did help me lose some weight, so having a few unplanned kilograms is not my problem anymore. But pain is still there. Yes, surprising… Since I stopped using Fentanyle pain patches, I don’t have anything for pain, and have about 30 pills of tramadol at home and found out that some doctors prescribe it for neuralgia (which is what sciatica is sometimes thought to be)… so I thought I would try taking 3 pills a day until I go back to the doctor. I don’t like the visits and am afraid. The easier thing to do would be to go back to my patches when I have one of those bad days. I haven’t seen my pain doctor for almost 2 months…since I went in crying and telling her how horrible of a month I had trying to stop using my patches ( which was MY OWN idea, by the way). Because I was crying, she suggested to make the dose smaller. I have seen her for almost 2 years and I really love her. I was taking about 12 medications when I went to her and she has minimized it to almost nothing. I’ve been visiting her for 2 years and have maybe cried twice…you know how it affects our lives. I’ve had it. It was really bad for me that she wanted me to take lower dose. I need a doctor who has had this pain and understands what it’s like to live with it every day. That would be great. I like the words I saw on this board, that if you cry to your doctor, you seem you suffer greatly, but if you look happy, you can’t be in as much pain as you say. It’s so hard. Oh, and by the way, the maximum dose I can be on Topamax is 50mg twice a day, if it is higher, I behave bad and forget things. When I made the dose smaller to 50mg…I was fine, thanks again that you are here.
