Side Effects
If you suffer any of the ensuing grave side effects, discontinue use of Tramadol and seek emergency treatment or get in touch with your physician at once.
1. Allergic response, such as problems with respiration, closed throat, swollen lips, tongue or face, or rash
2. Seizures
Different, less grave side effects might be more inclined to appear.
Keep using Tramadol and discuss it with your physician if you have:
1. Vertigo, sleepiness or headache
2. Anxiety, shakiness, nervousness
3. Nausea, vomiting, or constipation
4. Itching, dry mouth or perspiring.
Different side effects may also be present. Discuss with your physician any side effect that feels strange or is particularly annoying.
Different health issues: The existence of different health issues might impact the use of Tramadol (Ultram). Be certain to inform your physician if you have any different health issues, particularly:
- Serious stomach issues. Tramadol (Ultram) may mask symptoms of different health issues.
- Substance abuse, present or past. Might raise the incidence of grave side effects of Tramadol (Ultram).
- Cranial injury. Tramadol (Ultram) may mask symptoms of different health issues.
- Kidney or Liver disease: Odds of side effects occurring may be elevated.
Your physician will take this into consideration when determining dosage:
Seizure: The incidence of convulsion may be elevated. Tramadol can increase the effects of different medications that produce sleepiness, like antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines, sedatives, and different analgesics, nerve medications, and muscle relaxers. Inform your physician about any drugs you are using, and don’t use any different prescription or non-prescription drugs, including herbal remedies, unless you initially discuss it with your physician while you are taking Tramadol.
What different medications will have an effect on Tramadol?
Prior to using Tramadol, inform your physician if you using any of the following medications. Do not use Tramadol if you are also using any of the drugs named below unless you initially discuss it with your physician.
-Antidepressant drugs - amitriptyline (brand name: Elavil); nortriptyline (brand name: Pamelor); doxepin (brand name: Sinequan); imipramine (brand name: Tofranil); clomipramine (brand name: Anafranil), and more…
-Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) - isocarboxazid (brand name: Marplan), phenelzine (brand name: Nardil), or tranylcypromine (brand name: Parnate)
-Antipsychotics - chlorpromazine (brand name: Thorazine), fluphenazine (brand name: Prolixin), haloperidol (brand name: Haldol), loxapine (brand name: Loxitane), mesoridazine (brand name: Serentil), perphenazine (brand name: Trilafon), thioridazine (brand name: Mellaril), thiothixene (brand name: Navane), etc…
-Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) - fluoxetine (brand name: Prozac), fluvoxamine (brand name: Luvox), paroxetine (brand name: Paxil), sertraline (Zoloft), or citalopram (brand name: Celexa).
-Narcotic pain relievers - codeine, fentanyl (brand name: Duragesic), hydromorphone (brand name: Dilaudid), meperidine (brand name: Demerol), hydrocodone (brand names: Vicodin, Lorcet, Lortab), morphine (brand names: MS Contin, MSIR, RMS, Roxanol), oxycodone (brand names: Roxicodone, Percocet, Percodan), propoxyphene (brand names: Darvon, Darvocet, and others), etc…
-Promethazine (brand name Phenergan) or prochlorperazine (brand name:Compazine);
- Bupropion, (brand names Wellbutrin and Zyban)
- Cyclobenzaprine (brand name: Flexeril)
- Carbamazepine (brand name: Tegretol)
- Quinidine (brand names: Quinaglute Dura-Tabs, Cardioquin, Quinora, etc…)
- Warfarin (brand name: Coumadin)
- Digoxin (brand name: Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps).
You may not be a candidate for using Tramadol or you might need a different dosage or special supervision while taking it if you are using any of the drugs named above.
Always be sure to store Tramadol and any other drugs where children can’t reach them, never share your prescription with another, and take this drug only for the purpose prescribed.
